Record #112571:
Investigation of snow metamorphism near ice layer in snow / T. Arons, Samuel C. Colbeck.
Title: | Investigation of snow metamorphism near ice layer in snow / T. Arons, Samuel C. Colbeck. |
Author(s): | Arons, T. Colbeck, Samuel C. |
Date: | 1991. |
In: | Eos : transactions, American Geophysical Union. (1991.), Vol. 72(44, supplement) (1991) |
Abstract: | AGU Fall Meeting Program and Abstracts, December 9-13, 1991. Describes experiment to characterize interactions between texture and physical processes near discontinuity caused by interface between ice and snow layers; in this, column of moderately dense dry layered snow was subjected to temperature gradient for about six months. It was found that most activity associated with textural discontinuity occurred within few cm of ice layer. Textural signature related to metamorphic state may be useful for interpreting physical observations and describing boundary layer behaviour. |
Notes: | Eos : transactions, American Geophysical Union. Vol. 72(44, supplement) :190 (1991). |
Keywords: | 551.578.46 -- Snow cover and snow patches. 551.578.463 -- Snow cover, firnification. E10 -- Glaciology: snow and avalanches. |
