Record #112555:

Effects of snow-free period on the phenology of alpine plants inhabiting snow patches / Gaku Kudo.

Title: Effects of snow-free period on the phenology of alpine plants inhabiting snow patches / Gaku Kudo.
Author(s): Kudo, Gaku.
Date: 1991.
In: Arctic and Alpine Research. (1991.), Vol. 23(4) (1991)
Abstract: Six quadrants were set along snowmelt gradient and phenology of plants (56 species) was observed from 1988 to 1990. Contraction of snow-free period reduced flowering and seeding rates. Phenology was controlled by growth form, span of preflowering, and term for maturity of seeds. Became apparent that plants surviving in severe conditions with only short snow-free periods develop strategy for survival and reproduction.
