Microwave emission from thin saline ice: field observations and their implications for remote sensing / Mark R. Wensnahan, T.C. Grenfell, Gary A. Maykut, D. Winebrenner.
Title: | Microwave emission from thin saline ice: field observations and their implications for remote sensing / Mark R. Wensnahan, T.C. Grenfell, Gary A. Maykut, D. Winebrenner. |
Author(s): | Wensnahan, Mark R. Grenfell, T. C. Maykut, Gary A. Winebrenner, D. |
Date: | 1991. |
In: | Eos : transactions, American Geophysical Union. (1991.), Vol. 72(44, supplement) (1991) |
Abstract: | AGU Fall Meeting Program and Abstracts, December 9-13, 1991. Observations made at 6, 10, 19, 37, and 90 GHz at vertical and horizontal polarizations from initial ice formation up to thickness of up to 9 cm. Algorithm developed to identify presence of thin ice, and case study of SSMI data from Bering Sea during March 1988 shows large regions of apparently thin ice near St Lawrence Island where polynya typically forms. |
Notes: | Eos : transactions, American Geophysical Union. Vol. 72(44, supplement) :259 (1991). |
