Record #112529:

Ice cores and SeaRISE - what we do (and don't) know / Richard B. Alley.

Title: Ice cores and SeaRISE - what we do (and don't) know / Richard B. Alley.
Author(s): Alley, Richard B.
Date: 1991.
Publisher: Washington, DC: National Aeronautics and Space Administration
In: West Antarctic Ice Sheet Initiative. Volume 2 : discipline reviews. Proceedings of a workshop ... held at Goddard Space Flight Center, Greenbelt, Maryland, October 16-18, 1990. (1991.),
Abstract: (Initiative was discussed in earlier report (NASA CP 3075), under name of SeaRISE. Also edited by R.A. Bindschadler.) Ice-core analyses are useful in order to investigate past behaviour of west Antarctic and other marine ice sheets, and climate changes leading to present state of ice sheet. Principal results of interest to WAIS from earlier ice-core analyses are that end of ice age caused temperature and accumulation-rate increases in inland areas, leading to thickening of ice sheet, followed by thinning to present.
