Application of an atmospheric boundary layer model to a large scale coupled sea-ice--oceanic mixed-layer model for the Southern Ocean / Achim Stössel.
Title: | Application of an atmospheric boundary layer model to a large scale coupled sea-ice--oceanic mixed-layer model for the Southern Ocean / Achim Stössel. |
Author(s): | Stössel, Achim. |
Date: | 1991. |
In: | Annals of Glaciology. (1991.), Vol. 15 (1991) |
Abstract: | Presents model, which is forced by daily atmospheric variables and is run (1) by specifying surface boundary conditions and (2) by adding additional coupled one-dimensional atmospheric boundary layer. Results show that model predictions in (2) suffer from poor prediction of ice extent, thicknesses and velocities; adjustment of original model parameters and physics are discussed that improve prediction of these quantities. |
