Record #112497:

Mesoscale eddy formation and evolution in the ice-covered ocean / Motoyoshi Ikeda.

Title: Mesoscale eddy formation and evolution in the ice-covered ocean / Motoyoshi Ikeda.
Author(s): Ikeda, Motoyoshi.
Date: 1991.
In: Annals of Glaciology. (1991.), Vol. 15 (1991)
Abstract: Ice treated as passive tracer. Three mechanisms for generation of mesoscale eddies suggested: current instability, current--eddy interaction, current--topography interaction. First two are reviewed briefly. Evidence of current--topography interaction is shown to exist in ice-floe velocity data from Labrador Shelf, and is examined using eddy-resolving ocean model.
Notes:

Annals of Glaciology. Vol. 15 :139-147 (1991).

Keywords: 551.46 -- Oceanography, physical.
551.465 -- Oceanography, dynamics.
C -- Oceanography, hydrography and hydrology.
(*60) -- Arctic Ocean and adjacent waters.
(*620) -- Labrador Sea.
