Record #112496:

Relict flow stripes on the Ross Ice Shelf / Gino Casassa, Kenneth C. Jezek, John Turner, Ian M. Whillans.

Title: Relict flow stripes on the Ross Ice Shelf / Gino Casassa, Kenneth C. Jezek, John Turner, Ian M. Whillans.
Author(s): Casassa, Gino.
Jezek, Kenneth C.
Turner, John.
Whillans, Ian M.
Date: 1991.
In: Annals of Glaciology. (1991.), Vol. 15 (1991)
Abstract: Analysis of AVHRR data collected in summer and winter reveals complex patterns, in particular, large looping pattern of stripes west of Crary Ice Rise. Previous work suggests these may represent relict flowlines, and they are probably associated with subtle topography. Based on patterns of stripes and their location in outflow of major ice streams, it is proposed that they are related to ice raft torn from grounded ice sheet about 400 km upstream from present position.
