Abstract: Previous observations suggest that wave motion causes ice floes to collide, and, if duration of collision is long, freezing may produce composite floes. Study reported here is motivated by these observations, as it is wished to quantify frequency of floe collisions and duration of their contact before separation as function of floe size, ice concentration, elastic properties, wave amplitude, and wave period.
