Record #112479:
Sea-ice dynamics in the Weddell Sea in winter / Heinrich Hoeber.
Title: | Sea-ice dynamics in the Weddell Sea in winter / Heinrich Hoeber. |
Author(s): | Hoeber, Heinrich. |
Date: | 1991. |
In: | Annals of Glaciology. (1991.), Vol. 15 (1991) |
Abstract: | Presents observations of sea-ice drift received from array of Argos buoys, winter 1986. Wind and current data are also available, permitting derivation of complete momentum budget including internal ice stress computed as residuum. Shows that variability of forcing of atmosphere and of ocean is large, and that internal ice stress is not negligible; monthly vector averages amount to about half of wind and water stresses. Coefficients of shear and bulk viscosity are derived according to Hibler's model of ice rheology. |
Notes: | Annals of Glaciology. Vol. 15 :9-16 (1991). |
Keywords: | 551.32 -- Glaciology. 551.326 -- Floating ice. 551.326.7 -- Sea ice. 551.326.14 -- Floating ice, movement. 551.326.025 -- Floating ice, surface detection. E6 -- Glaciology: floating ice. (*80) -- Southern Ocean. (*826) -- Weddell Sea. |
