Abstract: Analysis of icing loads collected during winter 1987-88, using cables of different sizes but equal span. Smaller cable (12.5 mm) accreted average of 50% more than larger (35 mm). Maximum icing rate of 0.129 kg m⁻¹ h⁻¹ was measured on smaller cable. Maximum icing load recorded during same event was 8 kg m⁻¹, also on smaller cable. Duration of average shedding phase during 1987-88 winter was 26.5 h, with standard deviation of 17.8 h.
