| Abstract: | Describes characteristics of icings in northern Yukon. Occur mainly within beds of rivers in British and Richardson mountains, and on coastal plain deltas. Water and associated mineral deposits from some icings have been analyzed for stable isotopes; results suggest local origin for groundwater. Freezing is probably slow under equilibrium conditions, consistent with growth by basal accretion. See also ibid. 1993 4(1), for erratum on p.233 of this paper. |
