Record #112230:

Water circulation in the Kuril Basin of the Okhotsk Sea and its relation to eddy formation / Masaaki Wakatsuchi, Seelye Martin.

Title: Water circulation in the Kuril Basin of the Okhotsk Sea and its relation to eddy formation / Masaaki Wakatsuchi, Seelye Martin.
Author(s): Wakatsuchi, Masaaki.
Martin, Seelye.
Date: 1991.
In: Journal of the Oceanographical Society of Japan. (1991.), Vol. 47 (1991)
Abstract: Describes role of water circulation in formation and seasonal variation in intensity of large anticyclonic eddies occurring in Kuril Basin. Demonstrates that these ice-ocean eddies are caused by interaction of Soya Warm Current with cold, low salinity water generated by freezing in northern Okhotsk Sea.
