Pollen size of Betula in northern Alaska and the interpretation of Late Quaternary vegetation records / Mary E. Edwards, Janice C. Dawe, W. Scott Armbruster.
Title: | Pollen size of Betula in northern Alaska and the interpretation of Late Quaternary vegetation records / Mary E. Edwards, Janice C. Dawe, W. Scott Armbruster. |
Author(s): | Edwards, Mary E. Dawe, Janice C. Armbruster, W. Scott. |
Date: | 1991. |
In: | Canadian Journal of Botany. (1991.), Vol. 169(8) (1991) |
Abstract: | Offers reassessment of separability of modern Alaskan birch taxa based on measurements of freshly dehisced pollen from 55 plants in four northern Alaskan taxa (B. resinifera, B. glandulosa, B. nana and B. resinifera X glandulosa). Unable to discover any significant differences between mean pollen sizes and therefore suggest that history of birch as revealed in fossil record should be re-examined. |
