Record #112098:

Modelling the depth to the upper surface of offshore permafrost, Canadian Beaufort shelf / A.E. Taylor, Samuel I. Outcalt.

Title: Modelling the depth to the upper surface of offshore permafrost, Canadian Beaufort shelf / A.E. Taylor, Samuel I. Outcalt.
Author(s): Taylor, A. E.
Outcalt, Samuel I.
Date: 1991.
In: Eos : transactions, American Geophysical Union. (1991.), Vol. 72(44, supplement) (1991)
Abstract: AGU Fall Meeting Program and Abstracts, December 9-13, 1991. Strong anomalies were previously observed on high resolution reflection seismic records on shelf and have been interpreted as sharp increase in degree of ice bonding in offshore permafrost. As these reflectors lie within formation that was subaerially exposed for much of Late Wisconsinan, it is possible that their depths may be correlated to duration of recent marine transgression. This is tested by means of modified version of Outcalt's (1985) one-dimensional, finite-difference thermal model, which is used to predict depth of thawing.
