Record #112093:

Surface lineaments on Roosevelt Island, Ross Ice Shelf, Antarctica / Gino Casassa, Kenneth C. Jezek.

Title: Surface lineaments on Roosevelt Island, Ross Ice Shelf, Antarctica / Gino Casassa, Kenneth C. Jezek.
Author(s): Casassa, Gino.
Jezek, Kenneth C.
Date: 1991.
In: Eos : transactions, American Geophysical Union. (1991.), Vol. 72(44, supplement) (1991)
Abstract: AGU Fall Meeting Program and Abstracts, December 9-13, 1991. Prominent V-shaped lineament was detected with Advanced Very High Resolution Radiometer visible imagery. Cuts across both sides of island, converging close to upstream tip, and overlies change in bed slope. Therefore, it is geographically fixed and can be used in registering future satellite imagery. Clearly delineated grounding line is located 20 km toward ice shelf at site where bed is sloping gently. Suggests that impinging flow of ice shelf causes migration of grounding line down sloping bed. Suggests that monitoring separation of lineament and grounding line provides means of detecting changes in ice-shelf flow.
