Record #112081:

Geometry, bed topography and drainage system structure of the Haut Glacier d'Arolla, Switzerland / Martin J. Sharp.

Title: Geometry, bed topography and drainage system structure of the Haut Glacier d'Arolla, Switzerland / Martin J. Sharp.
Author(s): Sharp, Martin J.
Date: 1991.
In: Eos : transactions, American Geophysical Union. (1991.), Vol. 72(44, supplement) (1991)
Abstract: AGU Fall Meeting Program and Abstracts, December 9-13, 1991. Mapped by combined ground survey and radio echo-sounding techniques. Data were used to construct form of subglacial hydraulic equipotential surface, and to map expected patterns of subglacial water flow across bedrock topography in conditions of open channel flow, and equipotential surface assuming closed channel flow. Results compared with maps of subglacial catchment structure produced on basis of patterns of dye return. Latter agrees closely with results from equipotential surface, suggesting that channels develop initially as closed conduits.
