Effect of basal water pressure and storage on the rate of sliding of a glacier at three different time scales / Mark F. Meier, W. Barclay Kamb, H. Engelhardt, Mark A. Fahnestock, Neil Frank Humphrey.

Title: Effect of basal water pressure and storage on the rate of sliding of a glacier at three different time scales / Mark F. Meier, W. Barclay Kamb, H. Engelhardt, Mark A. Fahnestock, Neil Frank Humphrey.
Author(s): Meier, Mark F.
Kamb, W. Barclay.
Engelhardt, H.
Fahnestock, Mark A.
Humphrey, Neil Frank.
Date: 1991.
In: Eos : transactions, American Geophysical Union. (1991.), Vol. 72(44, supplement) (1991)
Abstract: AGU Fall Meeting Program and Abstracts, December 9-13, 1991. Short time-interval measurements were made of glacier flow (basal sliding), water input, and basal water pressure at two sites 5 and 12 km above terminus of Columbia Glacier, AK; water output was measured from nearby distributary glacier terminus. Data show response of glacier sliding to changes in water input, pressure, and storage that depends on time scale of fluctuations: seasonal, annual, several days, and hourly.
