Record #112073:

Mechanisms of ice stream motion: Jakobshavn Isbrae, Greenland / Keith Echelmeyer, R. Wade, Almut Iken.

Title: Mechanisms of ice stream motion: Jakobshavn Isbrae, Greenland / Keith Echelmeyer, R. Wade, Almut Iken.
Author(s): Echelmeyer, Keith.
Wade, R.
Iken, Almut.
Date: 1991.
In: Eos : transactions, American Geophysical Union. (1991.), Vol. 72(44, supplement) (1991)
Abstract: AGU Fall Meeting Program and Abstracts, December 9-13, 1991. Outlet glaciers and ice streams may be categorized into those with small and those with large surface slopes and driving stresses. Mechanisms by which they move are different. Recent measurements on Jakobshavns Isbrae, which is example of second type, combined with finite element modelling of flow, indicate that internal deformation within thick basal layer of temperate ice accounts for observed motion.
