Record #112058:

Holocene glacial history of the Hörgárdalur area / Thomas Häberle.

Title: Holocene glacial history of the Hörgárdalur area / Thomas Häberle.
Author(s): Häberle, Thomas.
Date: 1991.
Publisher: Dordrecht: Kluwer Academic
In: Environmental change in Iceland : past and present. (1991.),
Abstract: Determined by radiocarbon dating, tephrochronology and lichenometry. From results, measure of climatic variability can be inferred. Glacial advances at 4275 and 1000 a BP have been identified in Baegisárdalur, whereas, in Barkárdalur, pre-Little Ice Age advances are recognized between 2240 and 1835 a BP and shortly before 1555 a BP. During Little Ice Age, there were series of advances in both valleys with further advance in 1970s and 1980s.
