Abstract: AGU Fall Meeting Program and Abstracts, December 9-13, 1991. Probe uses intensity of relected laser light to index grain size and possibly crystal morphology in seasonally developed metamorphosized snowpacks. Preliminary tests show good correlation with manually obtained snow grain-size data. Operator was able to detect coarse-grained layers within snowpack.
