Decrease in anthropogenic lead, cadmium and zinc in Greenland snows since the late 1960s / Claude F. Boutron, Ursula Görlach, Jean-Pierre Candelone, Michael A. Bolshov, Robert J. Delmas.
Title: | Decrease in anthropogenic lead, cadmium and zinc in Greenland snows since the late 1960s / Claude F. Boutron, Ursula Görlach, Jean-Pierre Candelone, Michael A. Bolshov, Robert J. Delmas. |
Author(s): | Boutron, Claude F. Görlach, Ursula. Candelone, Jean-Pierre. Bolshov, Michael A. Delmas, Robert J. |
Date: | 1991. |
In: | Nature. (1991.), Vol. 353(6340) (1991) |
Abstract: | Because of evidence (1969) of lead pollution in ice and snow from use of alkyl-leaded petrol, many countries have limited use of lead additives. Shows that, because of these initiatives, lead concentrations in Greenland snow have decreased by factor of 7.5 over past 20 years. Cadmium and zinc have also decreased by factor of 2.5. |
