Record #111909:
Studies of proton irradiated H₂O+CO₂ and H₂O+CO ices and analysis of synthesized molecules / M.H. Moore, R.K. Khanna, B. Donn.
Title: | Studies of proton irradiated H₂O+CO₂ and H₂O+CO ices and analysis of synthesized molecules / M.H. Moore, R.K. Khanna, B. Donn. |
Author(s): | Moore, M. H. Khanna, R. K. Donn, B. |
Date: | 1991. |
In: | Journal of Geophysical Research. (1991.), Vol. 96(E2) (1991) |
Abstract: | Infrared spectra of these ices before and after proton irradiation showed that major reaction in both mixtures was interconversion of CO₂ and CO. Radiation-synthesized organic compounds such as carbonic acid were identified in H₂O+CO₂ ice. Different chemical pathways dominate in H₂O+CO ice in which formaldehyde, methanol, ethanol, and methane were identified. Implications for comets discussed. |
Notes: | Journal of Geophysical Research. Vol. 96(E2) :17, 541-17, 545 (1991). |
Keywords: | 551.32 -- Glaciology. 523.64 -- Comets. E13 -- Glaciology: glacioastronomy. |
