Record #111857:

A numerical study of the right angled thermosyphon / G.S.H. Lock, S. Park.

Title: A numerical study of the right angled thermosyphon / G.S.H. Lock, S. Park.
Author(s): Lock, G. S. H.
Park, S.
Date: 1991.
Publisher: New York: American Society of Mechanical Engineers
In: Proceedings of the 10th International Conference on Offshore Mechanics and Arctic Engineering - 1991 ... Stavanger, Norway, June 23-28, 1991. Vol. 4 - Arctic/polar technology. (1991.),
Abstract: Usually installed in engineering applications in linear form but other configurations are becoming known. Short adiabatic section joins heated limb to cooled limb of this right-angled, single-phase thermosyphon. Plot of Nusselt number versus Rayleigh number revealed conduction, impeded and boundary layer regimes seen in linear thermosyphons. Solutions were used to determine manner in which flow patterns were coupled in adiabatic section. Exploration of effect of tilt on heat transfer revealed maximum at 10° from vertical.
