Record #111846:

PEIST - an in situ ice strength testing device / Roy C. Johnson, A. Sangolt.

Title: PEIST - an in situ ice strength testing device / Roy C. Johnson, A. Sangolt.
Author(s): Johnson, Roy C.
Sangolt, A.
Date: 1991.
Publisher: New York: American Society of Mechanical Engineers
In: Proceedings of the 10th International Conference on Offshore Mechanics and Arctic Engineering - 1991 ... Stavanger, Norway, June 23-28, 1991. Vol. 4 - Arctic/polar technology. (1991.),
Abstract: Describes development of prototype portable equipment for ice strength testing (PEIST). Based on concept of bore-hole jack. Use of device, and recommended procedure, will permit systematic comparisons of field results with unconfined and confined small-scale laboratory test results. Prototype was tested on Norwegian glacier.
