Record #111837:

Ice-sheet/ocean interaction at the mouth of Hudson Strait, Canada, as a trigger for Younger Dryas cooling / Gifford H. Miller, Darrell S. Kaufman.

Title: Ice-sheet/ocean interaction at the mouth of Hudson Strait, Canada, as a trigger for Younger Dryas cooling / Gifford H. Miller, Darrell S. Kaufman.
Author(s): Miller, Gifford H.
Kaufman, Darrell S.
Date: 1991.
In: Norsk Geologisk Tidsskrift. (1991.), Vol. 71(3) (1991)
Abstract: Two major Late Wisconsin expansions of Laurentide ice sheet have been recognized on Baffin Island, occurring immediately before and after Younger Dryas cold interval. Based on geologic field mapping of ice-directional features, coupled with till composition, geochronology and evidence for large-scale oceanic/atmospheric changes that occurred during last deglacial cycle, model of self-oscillating glacier dynamics is developed that explains Younger Dryas cooling. Based on combination of massive iceberg flux and increased fresh-water discharge via St Lawrence River.
