Record #111811:

Preliminary results of direct tension tests on first-year sea ice samples / Jacqueline A. Richter-Menge, Kerran J. Claffey.

Title: Preliminary results of direct tension tests on first-year sea ice samples / Jacqueline A. Richter-Menge, Kerran J. Claffey.
Author(s): Richter-Menge, Jacqueline A.
Claffey, Kerran J.
Date: 1991.
Publisher: New York: American Society of Civil Engineers
In: Cold Regions Engineering. Proceedings of the Sixth International Specialty Conference ... the Sheraton North Country Inn, West Lebanon, NH, February 26-28, 1991. (1991.),
Abstract: Temperatures ranged from 120 to -3°C and strain-rates from 10⁻⁵ to 10⁻³ s⁻¹. Temperature of test specimen was dictated by its in-situ location within ice cover; samples near top were tested at lower temperature. All samples were taken from horizontal plane. Maximum stress achieved during test was most notably influenced by temperature, while loading rate was primary variable in determining failure strain and modulus.
