Record #111807:

Microstructure and mechanical behaviour of ice / Nirmal K. Sinha.

Title: Microstructure and mechanical behaviour of ice / Nirmal K. Sinha.
Author(s): Sinha, Nirmal K.
Date: 1991.
Publisher: New York: American Society of Civil Engineers
In: Cold Regions Engineering. Proceedings of the Sixth International Specialty Conference ... the Sheraton North Country Inn, West Lebanon, NH, February 26-28, 1991. (1991.),
Abstract: Describes naturally occurring lake or river ice, method for evaluating deformation behaviour and general microstructure-based constitutive equation. Equations suitable for high homologous temperatures, and specifically appropriate for columnar grained and equiaxed materials, are presented as examples. Theory incorporates microstructure-dependent matrix elastic response, grain-boundary shearing-induced elastic deformation and microcracking activity, grain-structure dependent shape and size of cracks, and enhancing effects of microcrack damage on intracrystalline matrix deformation.
