Record #111618:

Homogeneous freezing nucleation of stratospheric solution droplets / Eric J. Jensen, Owen B. Toon.

Title: Homogeneous freezing nucleation of stratospheric solution droplets / Eric J. Jensen, Owen B. Toon.
Author(s): Jensen, Eric J.
Toon, Owen B.
Date: 1991.
In: Geophysical Research Letters. (1991.), Vol. 18(10) (1991)
Abstract: Uses classical theory of homogeneous nucleation to calculate freezing rate of sulphuric acid solution aerosols under stratospheric conditions. Freezing of stratospheric aerosols is important for nucleation of nitric acid trihydrate particles in Arctic and Antarctic stratospheres, and for understanding polar stratospheric clouds (PSCs) and, ultimately, polar stratospheric ozone depletion.
