Record #111425:

Translated title: The frontal zone of Thompson and White glaciers in Axel Heiberg Island in the high Canadian Arctic: some preliminary observations.
Author(s): Parent, Michel.
Date: 1991.
Language: French.
In: Geological Survey of Canada. Paper. (1991.), Vol. 91-1E (1991)
Abstract: Thompson Glacier is advancing, while White Glacier is retreating. Push moraine of former has advanced 500 m over last 30 years; latter has retreated 100 m in same period. Lateral and end moraines of White Glacier are ice-cored and formed during middle of Little Ice Age, when glacier reached maximum at 1800 AD. Thompson Glacier has not yet reached its maximum; as it is three times longer than White Glacier, its response time is considerably longer.
