Charge transfer during individual collisions in ice growing from vapor deposition / Giorgio M. Caranti, Eldo E. Avila, M.A. Ré.

Title: Charge transfer during individual collisions in ice growing from vapor deposition / Giorgio M. Caranti, Eldo E. Avila, M.A. Ré.
Author(s): Caranti, Giorgio M.
Avila, Eldo E.
Ré, M. A.
Date: 1991.
In: Journal of Geophysical Research. (1991.), Vol. 96(D8) (1991)
Abstract: Study of importance of fragmentation in charging process. When target is colder than environment, charge pulses have mixed signs, but number of positive ones becomes dominant as target temperature decreases. Behaviour is reproduced in collisions with dielectric particles and target in same growth conditions. Reversal in temperature gradient reversed sign of charge transfer. Direct evidence of fragments produced during collisions suggests that they are responsible for measured charge transfer.
