Record #111363:

Ice pile-up on shores in northwestern Lake Ontario during winter 1990 / Robert Gilbert.

Title: Ice pile-up on shores in northwestern Lake Ontario during winter 1990 / Robert Gilbert.
Author(s): Gilbert, Robert.
Date: 1991.
In: Géographie Physique et Quaternaire. (1991.), Vol. 45(2) (1991)
Abstract: Two wind-driven pile-ups occurred on small islands in lake during winter 1990, one in January and the other in March. Both occurred during periods of warm weather, which weakened and thinned ice so that moderate winds, blowing first offshore and then onshore, were able to move it. In both cases, volume of pile-up exceeded 10⁴ m³, but was limited in extent and had little geomorphic effect.
