Abstract: Study designed to determine relationship between bacterial numbers and phytoplankton standing crop in a range of Marion Island lakes and to determine importance of labile dissolved organic carbon and water temperature as regulators. Data should help resource managers predict impacts and recovery times of cold-water lakes in this region if subjected to organic pollution.
