Abstract: Presents two-dimensional model designed for long-term simulation of northern hemisphere climate. Model is able to reproduce main characteristics of general circulation and, in particular, surface wind field. Seasonal cycles of oceanic mixed layer, sea ice, and snow cover are also well reproduced. Sensitivity experiments show importance of meridional sensible heat transport by Hadley circulation in tropics, oceanic mixed-layer processes, and sea-ice formation in warm water.
