Record #111164:

Geometric and thermal evolution of a surge-type glacier in its quiescent state: Trapridge Glacier, Yukon Territory, Canada, 1969-89 / Garry K.C. Clarke, Erik W. Blake.

Title: Geometric and thermal evolution of a surge-type glacier in its quiescent state: Trapridge Glacier, Yukon Territory, Canada, 1969-89 / Garry K.C. Clarke, Erik W. Blake.
Author(s): Clarke, Garry K. C.
Blake, Erik W.
Date: 1991.
In: Journal of Glaciology. (1991.), Vol. 37(125) (1991)
Abstract: Continuing study of this sub-polar glacier, reporting particularly on changes in geometry and thermal structure since 1968. Large wave-like bulge has formed near terminus, which is propagating at about 30 m a⁻¹. Since 1980, water penetration into ice has warmed 15-m temperature by 2°C. Zone of transition from warm- to cold-based ice is migrating down-glacier but at slower rate than bulge. This transition appears to be causing discontinuity in flow.
