Record #111155:
Surface profiles and basal shear stresses of outlet glaciers from a late-glacial mountain ice field in western Scotland / Peter W. Thorp.
Title: | Surface profiles and basal shear stresses of outlet glaciers from a late-glacial mountain ice field in western Scotland / Peter W. Thorp. |
Author(s): | Thorp, Peter W. |
Date: | 1991. |
In: | Journal of Glaciology. (1991.), Vol. 37(125) (1991) |
Abstract: | Reconstructed for 13 glaciers that drained from large (80x120 km) icefield between 14 and 10 ka BP. Basal shear stresses are calculated at 5 km intervals along central flowlines of reconstructed glaciers. Variations in calculated basal shear stresses are explained by differences in bedrock topography, extending and compressional flow, and basal boundary conditions. |
Notes: | Journal of Glaciology. Vol. 37(125) :77-88 (1991). |
Keywords: | 551.336 -- Ice ages. 551.79 -- Quaternary. E7 -- Glaciology: glacial geology and ice ages. (411) -- Scotland. |
