Record #111155:

Surface profiles and basal shear stresses of outlet glaciers from a late-glacial mountain ice field in western Scotland / Peter W. Thorp.

Title: Surface profiles and basal shear stresses of outlet glaciers from a late-glacial mountain ice field in western Scotland / Peter W. Thorp.
Author(s): Thorp, Peter W.
Date: 1991.
In: Journal of Glaciology. (1991.), Vol. 37(125) (1991)
Abstract: Reconstructed for 13 glaciers that drained from large (80x120 km) icefield between 14 and 10 ka BP. Basal shear stresses are calculated at 5 km intervals along central flowlines of reconstructed glaciers. Variations in calculated basal shear stresses are explained by differences in bedrock topography, extending and compressional flow, and basal boundary conditions.
