Record #111154:

Deforming-bed origin for southern Laurentide till sheets? / Richard B. Alley.

Title: Deforming-bed origin for southern Laurentide till sheets? / Richard B. Alley.
Author(s): Alley, Richard B.
Date: 1991.
In: Journal of Glaciology. (1991.), Vol. 37(125) (1991)
Abstract: Widespread, uniform till sheets of southern margin of ice sheet were deposited by fast-moving, wet-bedded ice over relatively short periods of time. Characteristics of till sheets are consistent with deposition from deforming, subglacial sediment layers; difficult to explain origin through debris transport in basal ice. Careful estimation of debris budgets and studies of sorted sediments contained in till sheets may clarify this.
