| Abstract: | Study used 21 m long water canal in conjunction with respirometry to determine energy requirements of Adélie (P. adeliae), gentoo (p. papua) and chinstrap penguins (P. antarctica) while at rest and while swimming, deducing power input and cost of transport at various speeds. Experiment conducted at Esperanza Bay during December 1989 and January 1990. |
