Abstract: Brief report of joint Finnish, Norwegian and Swedish project to clean up Soviet nickel smelter on Kola Peninsula (Kol'skiy Poluostrov), claimed to pollute some 700 km² around Nikel. Reindeer herding at risk due to disappearance of moss. There are also serious health problems among inhabitants.
