An apparent 1-year lag relationship of heavy snow years between Eurasia and North America (abstract) / Tomohiko Iwasaki.
Title: | An apparent 1-year lag relationship of heavy snow years between Eurasia and North America (abstract) / Tomohiko Iwasaki. |
Author(s): | Iwasaki, Tomohiko. |
Date: | 1991. |
In: | National Institute of Polar Research. Proceedings of the NIPR Symposium on Polar Meteorology and Glaciology. (1991.), Vol. 4 (1991) |
Abstract: | Investigates interannual variability of winter snow cover in northern hemisphere, using satellite-derived monthly snow-cover data from 1967 to 1987. Time series of two key regions (eastern Eurasia and western North America) showed apparent 1-year lag relationship of heavy snow years, winter with extensive snow cover over Eurasia tends to be followed by extensive snow cover over North America during succeeding winter. |
