Record #110906:
Global solar radiation, soil temperature and permafrost in the central Andes: a progress report / Lothar Schrott.
Title: | Global solar radiation, soil temperature and permafrost in the central Andes: a progress report / Lothar Schrott. |
Author(s): | Schrott, Lothar. |
Date: | 1991. |
In: | Permafrost and Periglacial Processes. (1991.), Vol. 2(1) (1991) |
Abstract: | Daily ranges of soil surface temperature (<=25 cm depth) correlate with incoming radiation, and diurnal ranges usually exceed 45°C, with maximum values of 55°C at 4150 m a.s.l. Active rock glaciers exist over 4000 m, and thickness of active layer varies from 1.4 to 2.5 m between 4000 and 4700 m a.s.l. Periglacial features are widespread and are used as edaphic indicators for lower limit of discontinuous permafrost, elevation 4000±200 m a.s.l.. |
Notes: | Permafrost and Periglacial Processes. Vol. 2(1) :59-66 (1991). |
