Record #110904:

Quaternary fan and river terrace deposits, Glen Orchy, east Cape Drakensberg, South Africa / Colin A. Lewis, Patricia M. Hanvey.

Title: Quaternary fan and river terrace deposits, Glen Orchy, east Cape Drakensberg, South Africa / Colin A. Lewis, Patricia M. Hanvey.
Author(s): Lewis, Colin A.
Hanvey, Patricia M.
Date: 1991.
In: Permafrost and Periglacial Processes. (1991.), Vol. 2(1) (1991)
Abstract: Unconsolidated deposits indicate that fluvial deposition was succeeded by periglacial slope processes associated with solifluction. Snow banks presumably existed on valley side, localizing solifluction activity. Subsequent fluvial erosion took place, possibly associated with disappearance of snow banks and larger snow and ice bodies. At least three phases of slope-wash followed. Slope stability occurred 2470-2440 BP.
Notes:

Keywords: 551.34 -- Geocryology. Frozen ground.
551.343 -- Periglacial processes. Thermokarst.
E8 -- Glaciology: frost action and permafrost.
(680) -- South Africa.
