Record #110901:
Periglacial evidence from the western Cape Mountains, South Africa: a progress report / J. Boelhouwers.
Title: | Periglacial evidence from the western Cape Mountains, South Africa: a progress report / J. Boelhouwers. |
Author(s): | Boelhouwers, J. |
Date: | 1991. |
In: | Permafrost and Periglacial Processes. (1991.), Vol. 2(1) (1991) |
Abstract: | Past periglacial activity is indicated by occurrence of solifluction phenomena, debris covers, cirque-like hollows and nivation niches. Origin of scree material, presumed cryoclastic in published information, remains enigmatic. Present-day cryogenic activity is under direct evaluation through microclimatic observations on soil and measurements of frost effects and rates of sediment movement. |
Notes: | Permafrost and Periglacial Processes. Vol. 2(1) :13-20 (1991). |
Keywords: | 551.34 -- Geocryology. Frozen ground. 551.343 -- Periglacial processes. Thermokarst. E8 -- Glaciology: frost action and permafrost. (680) -- South Africa. |
