Record #110889:

Directional wave spectra estimation in a marginal ice zone using linear prediction / Pierre Larouche, Claude Cariou.

Title: Directional wave spectra estimation in a marginal ice zone using linear prediction / Pierre Larouche, Claude Cariou.
Author(s): Larouche, Pierre.
Cariou, Claude.
Date: 1991.
Publisher: Mombetsu, Hokkaido: Hokkaido University, Sea Ice Research Laboratory, Okhotsk Sea & Cold Ocean Research Association
In: Sixth International Symposium on Okhotsk Sea & Sea Ice; abstracts; 3-6 February 1991, Mombetsu, Hokkaido, Japan. (1991.),
Abstract: Outlines development of theory; methodology has now been refined and used to estimate bidirectional ocean-wave spectra on images as small as 16x16 pixels. This approach was used to study wave decay and wave refraction in marginal ice zone during LIMEX '87 in Labrador Sea. Data was acquired by airborne C-band SAR. MIZ consisted of large number of small floes and could be divided into two zones having different characteristics of ice compaction. Preliminary results of bidimensional spectral analysis show effect of these two compactions on penetrating waves and attenuation rates are computed for them.
