| Abstract: | Develops set of differential equations describing ice-shelf flow. Retarding mechanism allows simulation of basal friction. Reproduction of observed flow of Filchner-Ronne ice shelves allows simulation of dynamics; this inplies solving mass-conservation equation, involving accumulation and ablation rates from surface and base of ice shelf. Flow of Ekströmisen is simulated, but forecasts cannot be made because mass balance is so far unknown. |
