Record #110834:
Fertilizer and climate change / R. Eugene Turner.
Title: | Fertilizer and climate change / R. Eugene Turner. |
Author(s): | Turner, R. Eugene. |
Date: | 1991. |
In: | Nature. (1991.), Vol. 349(6309) (1991) |
Abstract: | Recent rise in nitrate concentration in carefully dated polar snow deposits (up to 1988), reported by Mayewski and co-workers (1990), could be due to fertilizers as well as fossil fuels. Global consumption of nitrogen fertilizers is increasing relative to estimated release rate of nitrogen from fossil fuel. This, nitrogen in fertilizers is larger potential source of gaseous nitrogen in troposphere than fossil fuel sources, adding to complex problem of global climate change. |
