Record #110668:
Tectonic setting of Late Svecofennian granitoid magmatism and associated mineralization / Gabor Gaál.
Title: | Tectonic setting of Late Svecofennian granitoid magmatism and associated mineralization / Gabor Gaál. |
Author(s): | Gaál, Gabor. |
Date: | 1991. |
In: | Geologiska Föreningens i Stockholm Förhandlingar. (1991.), Vol. 113(1) (1991) |
Abstract: | Concludes that Early Proterozoic crust was consolidated 1.87-1.84 Ga ago, followed by rapid uplift of Svecofennian terrain and denudation. Uplift was probably accompanied by magmatic underplating of lower crust. Post-collisional thermal relaxation resulted in generation of basaltic layer by partial melting of upper mantle; layer was source of anomalously high heat flow and melting of lower crust. Faulting associated with deformation tapped magma layer in lower crust, leading to intrusion of widespread, predominantly S-type granitoids of predominantly alkaline affinity. |
