Mechanism of formation of composite chalcopyrite - copper sulfide lamellae in bornites from Gruvberget, northern Sweden / Örjan Amcoff, Jan-Olof Hedin.
Title: | Mechanism of formation of composite chalcopyrite - copper sulfide lamellae in bornites from Gruvberget, northern Sweden / Örjan Amcoff, Jan-Olof Hedin. |
Author(s): | Amcoff, Örjan. Hedin, Jan-Olof. |
Date: | 1991. |
In: | Geologiska Föreningens i Stockholm Förhandlingar. (1991.), Vol. 113(1) (1991) |
Abstract: | Proposes that these textures formed during late-stage oxidation via process of replacement exsolution, characterized by loss of copper from bornite crystal and resulting in preferential precipitation of chalcopyrite from supersaturated matrix. Lamellae were subsequently rimmed by digenite or covellite. With continuing loss of copper, because of advanced oxidation, bornite crystal broke down to fine-grained mosaic of idaite + chalcopyrite + bornite. |
