Record #110624:

Emission of elemental gold particles from Mount Erebus, Ross Island, Antarctica / Kimberly A. Meeker, Ray L. Chuan, Philip R. Kyle, Julie M. Palais.

Title: Emission of elemental gold particles from Mount Erebus, Ross Island, Antarctica / Kimberly A. Meeker, Ray L. Chuan, Philip R. Kyle, Julie M. Palais.
Author(s): Meeker, Kimberly A.
Chuan, Ray L.
Kyle, Philip R.
Palais, Julie M.
Date: 1991.
In: Geophysical Research Letters. (1991.), Vol. 18(8) (1991)
Abstract: Demonstrates that Mt Erebus gaseous emissions are source of gold particles found in plume near crater, in ambient air up to 1000 km from volcano, and in near surface samples. Discusses possible mechanisms for transport of gold out of the magma and, generally, mobility and dispersion of gold in Antarctic environment.
