Record #110446:
Dating of an ice core from the Høghetta ice dome in Spitsbergen by ²¹⁰Pb analysis / Toshiyaka Suzuki, Kazuo Osada, Yoshiyuki Fujii.
Title: | Dating of an ice core from the Høghetta ice dome in Spitsbergen by ²¹⁰Pb analysis / Toshiyaka Suzuki, Kazuo Osada, Yoshiyuki Fujii. |
Author(s): | Suzuki, Toshiyaka. Osada, Kazuo. Fujii, Yoshiyuki. |
Date: | 1991. |
In: | Bulletin of Glacier Research. (1991.), Vol. 9 (1991) |
Abstract: | Method applied to ice cores collected by Japanese Arctic Glaciological Expedition, 1987. ²¹⁰Pb activity was found to decrease exponentially with depth from surface to about 10 m depth. Below that, ²¹⁰Pb activity was nearly constant. Accumulation rate of ice core, averaged over 10 m depth, was estimated as 18±4 cm a⁻¹. |
Notes: | Bulletin of Glacier Research. Vol. 9 :55-58 (1991). |
Keywords: | 551.32 -- Glaciology. 551.324 -- Land ice. 551.324.24 -- Ice sheets and caps. 551.321 -- Glaciological methods and instruments. 551.321.2 -- Snow and ice, methods of sampling, excavating, drilling, etc. 622.14 -- Core sampling, ice and snow. 551.324.431 -- Land ice, accumulation: Høghetta ice dome.
