Abstract: Enhancements of one, or both, of ion-acoustic peaks of incoherent scatter spectra in auroral ionosphere have been observed with EISCAT UHF and VHF radars located in northern Scandinavia at geomagnetic latitude of 66°. All occurrences for which optical data are available show that these events coincide with active, unusually intense, red auroral forms in vicinity of radar beams at high altitudes. Both optical and radar signatures are expected to be caused by large fluxes of low-energy electrons.
